iRobot Combo Review

Combo is the first mop from iRobot and vacuum robot. It's also the most attractive. Its aluminum top piece brushed and iRobot logo are more elegant than the loud designs of competitors.

You can use the iRobot Home app to set up and guide your robot. The app tracks data about usage and maps of your house including furniture and obstructions. Maps and image data is only shared with iRobot if you opt-in.

It's not a mop

The Combo Irobot, a highly smart mopping robot, has all the capabilities of the fantastic Roomba J7+ and adds a water reservoir onboard as well as mopping pads, and a robot arm that can raise and lower the pad. It can do quite a bit of work in 111 minutes before running out of juice, and then automatically returning to its base station for recharge.

The combo model comes with the Effortless Cleaning: iRobot Roomba i5+ Robot Vacuum And Mop (Read Alot more) Home app so you can begin or stop cleaning runs. It's also a good-looking robot, sporting matte black plastic that doesn't show fingerprints or dust and a brushed aluminum top piece with an encircling iRobot logo.

It does an excellent job of vacuuming, and has no problem traversing large area rugs and transition strips between flooring surfaces. It's even able to capture fine dust that many robotic vacuums miss. However, it's not so well in the field of mowing. It's not able to completely eliminate dried milk stains, for example, unless you send it out four or five times.

IRobot's own Braava Jet M6 mopping machine, which is available as combination with the J7 Plus often for less than the combo Combo and performs much better at this and other tough tasks. It can even clean up ketchup and wine spills but I'd suggest using it in the presence of liquid with a high sugar content.

It's an air vacuum

It's among the most attractive robot vacuums. The top piece is smooth and doesn't show dirt or fingerprints as easily as other models. The small dustbin and water tank of this vacuum are easy to open, however they are not the largest. The Combo j7+ has all the features you'd expect from iRobot. This includes maps and obstacle avoidance maps that work efficiently and quickly. However, it's the mopping arm that makes this model stand out in its category. It keeps the mop pad hidden away on top of the vacuum, however, when it recognizes an area that requires mopping, it lowers the mop pad below and behind the robot. This is a major upgrade over other robot vacuums which require you to remove the mop pads to clean hard floors or carpets manually. You can even shut off the entire unit to mop.

It's an electric charging station.

Place your Combo irobot on the changing station, and align the metal contacts on the base. The charging station is easy to set up and works well. During my tests, it took the robot just a few minutes to charge before it would make noise when completed. Once the Combo robot is charged, you can begin mapping runs on the app to help the robot understand your home. The app allows you to mark certain objects as permanent avoidances, like lamp cords. You can also connect your robot to Alexa or Google Assistant, so you can use voice commands to guide it around the house.

It's a smart device

It also combines this knowledge with maps of your home and data from the robot's camera to create a customized cleaning plan for each room. This allows it to be smart enough to stay clear of your sofa, lamp cords and other objects you want to keep intact. As with any connected device there are concerns about the security of these information. latest irobot roomba, however, says that it will never sell any customer data and will not take any images without the consent of customers.
