The news that you're expecting your second child is one of the most exciting things to hear. But getting your family ready for this new addition comes with its own set of challenges.

The best double pram is among the most important things to consider. This article will discuss the different options available along with some tips to help you choose the right one for your growing family.

Convertible double prams

A convertible single to double stroller is a great choice for those who want a stroller to grow with your family. These innovative frames such as the Cybex Aton 4 Twin expand widthways to accommodate an additional seat. They also come with the option of incorporating a shopping basket, or two carrycots/carseats (with upper and lower adapters). This allows you to begin your family with a single buggy, and then upgrade when you have twins. They usually offer more configuration and seating options for both children than other styles of double prams too and will offer better weight distribution, so they are generally easier to maneuver. Pros: Simple to use, compact and versatile. Cons: It takes up less space and storage for both children and parents when compared to other designs.

Tandem (in-line) double prams

Tandem prams are generally more compact than double prams which are side-by-side. They are also more maneuverable through doors and on public transport. However they don't offer enough storage space, and may be more difficult to access when both seats are in use in the case of a toddler who is in the front seat.

Many first-time parents opt for tandem strollers to protect their investment in the event that they have children of the same age. One of the most popular examples is our DUO2 pram which starts life as a single buggy, but can be upgraded to a twin stroller with the addition of an additional seat. It also converts back into a single pram when your older child is no longer able to use it.

Tandem prams are available in a variety of designs and include the option for an infant to lie in a bassinet of the pram on top, while an older child sits in the seat below. The majority of tandem prams can be made an a travel system by putting an automobile capsule to the top seat.

For the ultimate flexibility, a side-byside double pram allows both kids to take the ride in tandem and interact as they go. This will help avoid getting up or fighting over toys, and the fact that they're seated near to one another means you can easily get through doors and other obstacles with ease.

A side-byside is the ideal option for grandparents looking to get involved in the fun. They can be used to push both children around and help with shopping, running errands or even attending events. They're usually cheaper than tandem prams, which makes them a great option for grandparents who want to help with babysitting.

Single prams

A single pram newborn is only capable of accommodating one seat or a bassinet/carry-cot. It is suitable for infants to around 4 years of age. four years old. A lot of single prams allow a toddler board to be attached to the back of the stroller, so that a second child can sit or stand (depending on the kind of toddler board) while you push the stroller through.

Some first-time parents decide to future-proof their pram by acquiring a double pram option, like our DUO2. This means you'll use the pram in single mode while you have a single child, and then change it into a tandem in-line double pram once bub number two arrives. This will save you the cost and burden of having to purchase a separate double pram.

Tandem or in-line double prams are wider than side by side double prams, yet they are easier to maneuver on crowded footpaths and in shops. However, they can be more difficult to use when running and will require more effort to push when going up or down hills.

They are a bit larger than tandem or in-line double prams however they are an excellent choice when your children are similar in age. They can view each one another and interact from their seats. However, they are not as maneuverable and may not fit through standard doorways as easily as a tandem stroller.

Non-convertible side by side pushchairs prams pushchairs cannot be used in single mode - you will need to purchase another pram or stroller for your smaller child. They offer the benefit of being less expensive and last longer than convertible double prams, since they aren't designed to be used in both single and double modes. The biggest drawback is that your child may quickly outgrow a side-by-side and need to be moved into a toddler's chair. This could be costly.
