out-n-about-nipper-single-stroller-all-terrain-pushchair-newborn-4-years-lightweight-foldable-buggy-rocksalt-grey-1732.jpgIt features a pair of fixed seats that can provide the possibility of up to 30 seating configurations (including three!). Both seats have UPF 50+ canopy with windows that peek out.

Size

The Joovy Kooper X2 double stroller is a side by side double stroller. It can be used by two children who weigh up to 50 lbs. The seats are bigger than other lightweight double strollers and the canopy has large SPF 50 sunshades that have peekaboo windows. Other notable features include a self-standing basket that has a the capacity of 25lbs, cup holders for one parent and swing-away bars that help children to get into and out of their seats. This is a great choice for urban and suburban families. It also comes with a double kit that includes the newborn's wedgie to ensure an optimum lie-flat position.

Weight

The weight of a double buggie will determine the ease of pushing. A light buggy is easier to lift and transport, but may not have enough suspension to deal with bumps and uneven terrain.

Make sure to read the specifications of each model before buying. Certain double buggies come with an upper limit on the weight of the seats and others have a frame limit. Some fold with seats removed, making them even lighter and more compact, which can be useful if storage space is at an all-time low.

Tri-fold doubles are generally the lightest, since they require only one hand to lift the top and bottom sections. They are also narrower than buggies that are side by side and can fit through most doorways. The iCandy Geo 3 is one of the lightest trifold doubles on the market, and can comfortably accommodate twins or a toddler and a baby.

Tandem buggies are great for growing families because they start as a single stroller but can be adapted to accommodate a second seat, car seat or carrycot. Some models, such as the iCandy Orange, offer over 30 seating configurations, meaning they can expand with your family to accommodate a third child. They are heavier than tri-folds, but because the weight is evenly distributed, they are easier to move around.

Folding

The best small double pram and pushchair buggies fold up easily, in a matter of seconds. Our Lab experts appreciate this feature since it helps them squeeze the buggies into the back of their cars and also save storage space when not in use. The Joovy Kooper X2 for example comes with straps that can be pulled up over each seat and the entire thing folds down. Even our oldest testers could do this tri-fold with just one hand.

The lightweight Delta Children LX side by side is another great choice for a Bambisol Double Side to Side Twin Pushchair - Compact Black Grey buggie. Its light weight is a plus, but so are its key features including large pop-out canopy with SPF 50 and peekaboo windows swing-away bars that help youngsters climb in and out of the seats; and reclined seating and leg rests for smaller children.

Manoeuvrability

When choosing a small double stroll, it's important to take into account its maneuverability. This includes the ease for both children to be able to ride in the buggy. Certain pushchairs, like the iCandy Orange with its 'cinema seating' (where the back seat is elevated) are better at this than other models.

Narrow tandem buggies can be good at this and so can side-by-side designs. However, they are a bit longer overall and so may be tricky to maneuver through doorways.

The UPPAbaby Vista 2 is an excellent example of this, as it's a relatively narrow pushchair that still allows two seats to be added, and an important feature - the 'piggyback' board which can accommodate the third child.

Other three-wheeled models like the phil&teds dot extremely agile, particularly thanks to its clever 'dot kit which transforms it into an inline buggy. This has a couple of different seating configurations that are suitable for children with different ages. It even allows the front seat to be turned to face the parents for optimum face-to-face time. It also has a great storage basket that is easy to fold. It is an excellent choice for families that are growing!

Comfort

Parents can keep both children in sight at the park, in the grocery store or wherever else using narrow tandem buggies, or side-by-side buggies. These lightweight doubles can accommodate two children up to 50 lbs each. They also have a pop-out canopy that can be extended far enough to provide real shade. The doubles also have one cupholder for each parent and an adjustable cupholder on the seatback. They also come with an ample underseat storage basket.
