Floor Standing Electric Fire

mazona-ripley-4-kw-ecodesign-ready-multi-fuel-wood-burning-stove-313.jpgA floor-standing electric fire is a fireplace that sits on the ground instead of being constructed into a wall. All of them have the appearance of flames while generating heat. They can be used with a log, coal or a modern pebble fuel bed.

Some models include a remote control that allows you to adjust the settings from the distance. They are CSA certified and safe to use in rooms with children.

Before drilling, it's a good idea to use a stud finder and a spirit level to make sure that you're not drilling into something important.

After you have erected the wall bracket, it is time to mount your fire. You can either place the fire in the box, and then attach it to the bracket or you can mount the firebox together with the screen as a complete unit. Flames

There are a range of flame options for freestanding electric fireplaces to suit your interior design. Some electric fires use an organic mixture of chemicals that is emitted from a single point, and does not have the chaotic appearance of log flames made of wood. Others are based on LED technology, which makes the flames appear real and unpredictable. MagikFlame's Hybrid FX technology creates an immersive experience by cycling the flames, accent lighting and ember bed through the spectrum of colors in a rainbow-like manner.

Many models come with left-corner, corner-right or three-sided bays to provide even greater flexibility. There are also wall-mounted models that are single-sided and work well as electric fireplaces that are partially or completely recessible. These are great for quick and simple installation.

Fuel bed

The fuel bed is the flammable material that surrounds the flames of a floor-standing electric fire, and is responsible to combustion. The fuel bed is made up of a range of different materials such as log effect or real coals that can be adapted to match your decor. There are a variety of factors that affect the fuel bed such as its shape, size and structure, which can significantly impact the combustion of the flames.

In a study of fuel beds made of pine needles, Anderson (1964) observed that fire spread rate was not dependent on the depth of the fuel over a threshold of 0.0762 m (with positive correlation below this threshold). This observation is in line with earlier observations made in crib fire experiments conducted by Catchpole and others as well as observations from the vast study of fire behaviour of which Rothermel is the most famous.

However, the structure of natural fuel beds in wildland ecosystems is extremely complex, and their characteristics vary widely over time and space. In an effort to recognize this variation, the Fuel Characteristic Classification System (FCCS) was created to categorize fuelbeds and determine their potential impacts on fire behavior. FCCS fuelbeds are organized into six distinct strata, including shrubs, canopy, nonwoody fuels, woody litter-lichen-moss. The attributes resulting from the Consume 4.2 calculator embedded within the FFT software are helpful to map fuelbeds and could be used as input to models for predicting fire behaviour.

fireplaces-and-stove-logo-png.pngA study of the dimensional structure of each of the six types of fuelbeds was carried out to compare the rate of spread of fire under windy and non-windy conditions. This led to the formation of dimensionless groups for each of the relevant variables that include dimensionless spread rate of fire and dimensionless size of the fuel particle and moisture content, dimensionless fuel bed depth or fuel loading density, and dimensionless wind speed and angle of inclination. The dimensionless correlations based upon the groups generated correlated the rate at which fire spread with wind and no-wind situations fairly consistently. However it is important to keep in mind that these correlations were based upon experimental data that only covered a small portion of the range of natural fuel types that can be found in wildland habitats.
